Immunizations Are for All Ages

Vaccines aren’t just for kids!

While immunizations are one of the best ways to keep kids healthy and safe from dangerous communicable diseases, the vaccines don’t just stop once you reach adulthood. In fact, immunizations are something that you’ll probably benefit from throughout your lifetime. Wondering when to turn to our Trophy Club, TX, doctors Dr. David Yi, Dr. April Enard, Dr. Paula Lansford Seabaugh, and PA Carol Addy PAC for immunizations?

Annual Flu Shot

Every year, the flu causes many Americans to miss days of school or work and can even lead to hospitalization, severe complications or even death. The CDC recommends that everyone gets the flu vaccine every year to protect against the virus over six months.

People at risk for health complications, including young children, people with preexisting health conditions, and individuals over 65, should get the flu shot. It’s best to schedule your immunization with our Trophy Club, TX, doctors before peak flu season, which begins in December.

Shingles Vaccine

If you’ve had chickenpox, the virus still lives in your body. When the virus is reactivated, this is known as shingles, which causes a painful rash on the body. Whether you’ve had shingles in the past or you’re looking to prevent it, the shingles vaccine may be right for you. The CDC says that people over age 50 should get the shingles vaccine, as well as individuals over age 19 with weakened immune systems due to disease.

The vaccine comes in two doses administered about two to six months apart. Immunocompromised individuals who get the shingle vaccine can get their second dose only one to two months apart.

Covid-19 Vaccine

It’s also important that individuals protect themselves from Covid-19 by getting the vaccine. Like the flu vaccine, anyone over six months old is eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine. Children 5 years and older are also eligible for the booster shot. The CDC recommends getting your first booster at least five months after the final dose of your first vaccine. Those who are immunocompromised should wait three months before getting their booster.
